Papadeli co-owner, Catrin, is a trustee of The Key – Unlock Potential, a charity established to provide training and employment to those leaving prison, in the hope of reducing reoffending through offering an opportunity for individuals to be part of a hospitality team running their brand new cafe, set to open in May.
The Key cafe, situated in front of HMP Horfield on Gloucester Road, Bristol will serve drinks and food – the bread and cakes will be made in the prison kitchen by Rise and Prove bakery. The prison is also producing a range of jams as well as honey from the prison hives.
The Key charity believes that education is at the heart of rehabilitation and Suzanne Thompson, the charity’s founder has seen through her work as CEO of The Restore Trust how essential having someone support and believe in you is.
We sold the first batch of Jail Jar Jams just before Christmas and they sold out immediately. We are delighted that Tom Green, a great Bristol chef along with Single Variety jams have produced another batch – adding a blackcurrant jam to the delicious raspberry. Arthur David, a Bristol food supplier is donating the fruit used. It’s a superb, high quality jam with no additives, just pure fruit and sugar.
Before the cafe opens, Papadeli customers get the chance to grab a jam or two to support this great charity (all money goes to The Key – Unlock Potential).
